Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Morning:

• Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): Arrive in Tanzania, and your driver-guide will meet you at the airport.
• Transfer to Tarangire National Park: After your arrival, you’ll be driven to Tarangire National Park, which takes about 2-3 hours by road from the airport. Along the way, you’ll be able to see the beautiful Tanzanian landscape.

Afternoon:

• Lunch at Lodge: Check-in at your lodge or camp near Tarangire and have a delicious lunch.
• Afternoon Game Drive in Tarangire: After lunch, head out for a thrilling game drive in Tarangire National Park. Known for its large elephant herds, this park is also famous for its distinctive baobab trees and diverse wildlife.
  • You’ll likely see elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species. The park is also home to lions and leopards, so keep an eye out for predators!
  • The best time to view wildlife in Tarangire is during the dry season (June to October), when animals congregate around the river and waterholes.

Evening:

• Dinner and Overnight at Lodge: Return to your lodge after the game drive. Enjoy dinner at your lodge or camp, and relax under the stars. Many lodges in Tarangire offer beautiful views of the park’s landscapes.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Morning:

• Early Breakfast and Departure to Ngorongoro Crater: After an early breakfast, you’ll head out to Ngorongoro Crater. The drive from Tarangire to Ngorongoro takes about 3-4 hours, depending on the route and road conditions. Along the way, you’ll pass through scenic rural areas with views of the Great Rift Valley.

Late Morning:

• Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive: Once you arrive at the crater’s rim, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, which is often referred to as the “Garden of Eden.” The crater is a natural wildlife haven with dense populations of animals, including the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos.
  • Enjoy a game drive inside the crater, where you’ll also see other animals like hippos, zebras, wildebeests, and flamingos near the crater’s lakes.
  • The Ngorongoro Crater is particularly famous for its high concentration of wildlife and is one of the best places to see rhinos in the wild.

Afternoon:

• Picnic Lunch at the Crater: Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at one of the designated areas in the crater, offering incredible views of the surrounding landscapes and wildlife.
• Continue Game Drive: After lunch, you’ll continue your game drive, exploring different parts of the crater floor, which is around 250 square kilometers of diverse terrain (savannah, forest, wetlands).

Late Afternoon:

• Return to Arusha: After the afternoon game drive, you’ll begin your drive back to Arusha, which takes about 3-4 hours. Depending on your flight time, you can either be dropped off directly at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure or stay overnight at a hotel in Arusha.
